What female part would you most like to play?
Right now I am most interested in playing an ordinary but extraordinary woman, but I’d also really love to make a funny, brainy comedy. I just watched “Get Him to the Greek” and Rose Byrne, a good friend of mine is in that. She’s so friggin’ good, and she’s such a dramatic actress.

But are you funny?
I think I am! But I’d kill for a Judd Apatow movie.

Kate Hudson and Gwyneth Paltrow are just two of the gorgeous ladies included in Elle’s Women in Hollywood November issue, on newsstands Oct. 17. The magazine honors these beautiful blondes along with Diane Kruger, Sofia Coppola, Kerry Washington, and others who have had an impact on the film industry, showcasing them on multiples covers and inside spreads photographed by Carter Smith.

Each woman took a look back on some of their most memorable roles in the business and talked about finding good female parts as well as the challenge of balancing work and family life.

Rihanna has been named as the most daring celebrity fashionista. The “Umbrella” hitmaker, who is known for her eccentric dress sense, was awarded “The Daring Diva” accolade by People Magazine in its 2010 Best Dressed List.

However, Rihanna wasn’t the only star to be given a fashion nod by the magazine, with the likes of Jennifer Aniston, Diane Kruger, Jessica Alba and Gwen Stefani also picking up awards. Jessica won The Mix Master title for her ability to look fashion-forward both on and off the red carpet, while Gwen – who has two sons, Kingston, four, and Zuma, two, with rocker husband Gavin Rossdale – was praised for her yummy mummy credentials and Jennifer was named The American Classic.

Meanwhile, “Glee” star Lea Michele picked up The Newbie award for her red carpet efforts and Rachel Bilson was praised for her stylish use of denim. However, it wasn’t just stars of stage and screen who were noted for their style choices. Prince William’s girlfriend Kate Middleton won over judges for “always looking chic and refined”, and was awarded The Princess in Waiting accolade.

There are a lot of choice quotes from the interview with Diane Kruger in this month’s issue of Allure, but our favorite by far is the story about the time Kruger almost ran over Sharon Stone with a Segway. Kruger explains that the incident occurred at a charity auction last year. She says:

“I was at this auction last year for amfAR — a foundation for AIDS research — and Sharon Stone was hosting. Josh [Jackson] and I were supposed to auction off a Segway. And for some reason I decided to get on it, wearing really high heels. I was totally off balance, and … I nearly killed Sharon Stone. I’m not kidding. I ran over the train of her dress, and she stumbled and almost fell off the stage. Josh had to pull me off. I could see the headlines: Diane Kruger kills Sharon Stone.”

With such a devotion to fashion and taking sartorial risks, it’s no wonder the 33-year-old actress is a muse to fellow German Karl Lagerfeld.

“I met Diane on a shoot I was doing for Elle in the ’90s, with ten other girls,” the Kaiser tells the magazine of his friend. “Diane was stunning, and the most interesting girl. The others I forgot instantly. One, she can make any clothing, no matter how wild, look right. That alchemy is very hard to explain. And two, she speaks perfect English, French, and German. There is no actress in the world who can handle so perfectly three languages with no accent.”

The two are such close friends that the designer was chosen to present Kruger with an award at The Golden Camera Awards in Berlin.

“Karl never goes out to give awards, but he came out for me,” Kruger says. “He gets very flustered speaking on TV, and he just goes on and on. And in the course of presenting me with this, he said, on live television, that we were neighbors — and then gave our addresses. I’m backstage, like, Oh, my God! Thanks, Karl! For making it easy for the crazy people!”

Model turned award-winning-actress Diane Kruger is Allure’s gorgeous July cover girl, which makes sense given her past. The German-born stunner, who graced the pages of Allure back in her days as a model and was once the face of Giorgio Armani’s Acqua di Gio perfume, dons a thick navy cashmere Michael Kors sweater for the magazine, and, naturally, a flawless face painted by Gucci Westman. Inside the issue, Kruger, who also wears an off-the-shoulder taffeta and tulle gown by Jason Wu, gives her beauty and fashion tips.

“I must be very careful with my skin from modeling and working under hot lights,” says Kruger, who will be the new face of Calvin Klein’s Beauty fragrance come this October. “I break out easily. I never go to sleep without taking off my makeup.”

As for style versus comfort, Kruger says the former wins out every time.

“Two years ago, I wore an haute couture gown to the Venice Film Festival, and it had a full-on corset — it was gorgeous, but it was a runway piece and it hadn’t been made for life,” she remembers. “The bodice didn’t have one of those openings at the bottom. I nearly fainted because it was so tight, and I had to go to the bathroom so badly, but it would have taken an hour to get out of that dress. But! It was soooo gorgeous!”
