Ewan McGregor, Alexander Payne, and Diane Kruger will be part of the competition jury headed by Italian filmmaker Nanni Moretti (We Have a Pope) at the 65th Cannes Film Festival in May. Organizers announced today that the trio would be joined by Palestinian actress-director Hiam Abbass, British filmmaker Andrea Arnold (Fish Tank), French actress Emmanuelle Devos, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Haitian filmmaker Raoul Peck.

The jury will judge the 22 films in competition and award the Palme d’Or. Last year’s big winner was Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life and this year’s in-competition slate includes Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom and David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis. (Source)

Reports are indicating Jessica Chastain is the favourite to play a starring role opposite Robert Downey Jr in Iron Man 3. The role is a sexy scientist every bit as smart as Tony Stark. Jessica Chastain was originally offered the role but it looked like she was going to be preoccupied making a movie with Joel Edgerton and Samantha Morton.

Marvel then began lining up meetings with actresses Diane Kruger, Gemma Arterton and Isla Fisher. But all that has changed as Chastain’s movie has been pushed. The actress cast will join Downey, Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, and potentially Guy Pearce and Ben Kingsley in the third installment of the Iron Man trilogy, this one directed by Shane Black. Filming for Andrew Niccol’s book-to-film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s The Host will be moving to Albuquerque and Farmington, New Mexico starting next week and a couple of open casting calls for the project have been announced.

The Host will film in New Mexico from April 9th until April 28th, and On Location Casting shared two open casting calls for the project on its Facebook page. The first is for seekers (like Diane Kruger’s character), and the second is for Asian babies.

The New Mexico locations, according to actress Frances Fisher (who portrays “Maggie” in the film)’s tweet on the subject, will be used for exterior shots for the film, while for the past month, she explained, the cast and crew have been working on interior cave scenes in Louisiana.

The Host will hit theaters on March 29th, 2013. (Source)
