Actress Diane Kruger has signed on to star in The Host for Summit Entertainment and director Andrew Niccol.

The project is based on Stephenie Meyer’s novel of the same name, which centers on parasitic alien creatures called Souls who can take over a human body. Saoirse Ronan stars as a young soldier who is taken over by a Soul dubbed The Wanderer, although the soldier puts up a fight, refusing to let go of her identity. The Wanderer becomes obsessed with the soldiers memories, and sets out to find her boyfriend and lost brother. Diane Kruger will portray The Seeker, who tracks down The Wanderer.

Andrew Niccol will direct from his own screenplay, which is adapted from Stephenie Meyer’s novel. Max Irons, Jake Abel, and William Hurt also star. It isn’t known when production will begin on The Host.

The Host comes to theaters March 29th, 2013 and stars Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons, Jake Abel, William Hurt, Diane Kruger. The film is directed by Andrew Niccol. (Source)

The world premiere of Benoît Jacquot’s Farewell My Queen (Les Adieux à La Reine) will open the 62nd Berlin Film Festival.

The screen adaptation of Chantal Thomas’ prize-winning novel of the same name stars Diane Kruger, Léa Seydoux and Virginie Ledoyen and examines the first days of the French Revolution from the perspective of the servants at Versailles. Set in 1789, revolution is imminent. Behind the facades of the royal palaces, everyone is thinking of fleeing, including Queen Marie Antoinette (Kruger) and her entourage, including her reader Sidonie Laborde (Seydoux).

Meryl Streep has also been named by the festival as the recipient of an Honorary Golden Bear. The 16-time Oscar nominee, who has starred in more than 40 films, will receive the award at a screening of her latest work The Iron Lady at the Berlinale Palast. (Source)
