Filming for Andrew Niccol’s book-to-film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s The Host will be moving to Albuquerque and Farmington, New Mexico starting next week and a couple of open casting calls for the project have been announced.
The Host will film in New Mexico from April 9th until April 28th, and On Location Casting shared two open casting calls for the project on its Facebook page. The first is for seekers (like Diane Kruger’s character), and the second is for Asian babies.
The New Mexico locations, according to actress Frances Fisher (who portrays “Maggie” in the film)’s tweet on the subject, will be used for exterior shots for the film, while for the past month, she explained, the cast and crew have been working on interior cave scenes in Louisiana.

The first official trailer for the upcoming film, The Host has finally been released. From the author of the Twilight Saga, Stephenie Meyer, comes The Host. One soul, the Wanderer, is fused with a captured human named Melanie Stryder, in an attempt to locate the last pocket of surviving humans on Earth.

Last month, it was announced that Open Road Films was hosting a Facebook contest where a few lucky winners will be featured in the first trailer for The Host, which is currently in production and set for release March 29, 2013. Today, Open Road Films announced the first trailer for The Host will be released Thursday, March 22, and will feature the six winners of this Facebook contest.

Actress Diane Kruger has signed on to star in The Host for Summit Entertainment and director Andrew Niccol.
The project is based on Stephenie Meyer’s novel of the same name, which centers on parasitic alien creatures called Souls who can take over a human body. Saoirse Ronan stars as a young soldier who is taken over by a Soul dubbed The Wanderer, although the soldier puts up a fight, refusing to let go of her identity. The Wanderer becomes obsessed with the soldiers memories, and sets out to find her boyfriend and lost brother. Diane Kruger will portray The Seeker, who tracks down The Wanderer.
Andrew Niccol will direct from his own screenplay, which is adapted from Stephenie Meyer’s novel. Max Irons, Jake Abel, and William Hurt also star. It isn’t known when production will begin on The Host.
